Why he might be annoying
He had the husband of Anna Vernotico murdered, then married the widow.
After fleeing to Italy to avoid trail for murder, he sucked up to Benito Mussolini by arranging the assassination of Carlo Tresca, an anti-fascist newspaper editor in New York (1943).
After the Allied landings in Italy, he helped the US Army clean up the black market, then put his own people in charge.
Mob informant Joe Valachi said, 'If you went to him and told him about some guy doing wrong, he would have the guy killed and then he would have you killed for telling on the guy.'
Why he might not be annoying
He was a dapper dresser who favored cashmere coats.
The drug bust that sent him to prison may have been a set-up by Carlo Gambino.
He died of a heart attack in prison.
