    She is a recurring subject in Calvin Trillin's writings, including his 2006 book, 'About Alice.'
    She published 'Dear Bruno,' based on a letter she had sent to a 12-year-old cancer patient.
    Her writings are still used in medical schools in work with cancer patients.
    She formed her own production company that broadcast educational television.
    She died from heart failure resulting from radiation damage sustained - some thirty years after treatment.
