Vocalist
    (February 1, 1909-April 16, 2013)
    Born in Winchester, Ontario, Canada
    Gospel singer
    Bass/baritone
Regular performer at Billy Graham Crusades and on Graham's 'Hour of Decision' radio program
    Recorded over 70 albums
Wrote or co-wrote the hymns 'I'd Rather Have Jesus' and 'The Wonder of It All'
Signature hymn was 'How Great Thou Art'
Grammy Lifetime Acheivement Award recipient (2011)
Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame (1978)
He worked as an insurance company clerk for nine years before taking up singing as a career.
During an amateur hour competition on Fred Allen's radio show, he finished second, losing out to a yodeler.
He originally went by his middle name until the sponsor of his radio show complained that listeners were confused by a man named Beverly.
He said about his straightforward singing style, 'I try not to do any vocal gymnastics. I'm not capable of it anyway.'
He was known for his powerful voice, perfect pitch and clear diction.
Graham said that without Shea he would not have had a ministry.
Graham said that many nights Shea's introductory song was more powerful than the sermon.
He was still performing after hitting the century mark.
He performed in front of more people than any other singer in history: an estimated 220 million over seven decades.
