    Recorded the singles ‘Steal Away’ and ‘Hot Rod Hearts’ (both 1980)
    The Los Angeles Times described his biggest hit, ‘Steal Away,’ as ‘a blatant, wimpy rip-off of the Michael McDonald/Kenny Loggins composition ‘What a Fool Believes.’’
    His explanation for contributing a song to ‘The Wrestling Album II’: ‘I didn’t really want to, but I thought, ‘No one is ever going to hear this, so fuck it. I’m going to get paid good money and it’ll vanish.’’
    VH-1 included him in their ‘100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the 80s’ countdown even though ‘Steal Away’ and ‘Hot Rod Hearts’ both made Billboard’s top 20.
    His biggest influences were Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye.
    In the early 70s he was in the band New World Rising, along with future Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers.
    He enjoyed a career resurgence with the revival of interest in late 70s/early 80s adult-oriented rock under the label ‘yacht rock.’
