    He was fired from the Dodgers after having a falling out with Tommy Lasorda (1982).
    He was known for his malaprops, such as 'Half this game is ninety percent mental' and 'Even Napoleon had his Watergate.'
    He famously told reporters 'We're not out of it yet' on the day the Phillies had been eliminated from playoff contention (1975).
    He was married to his wife Ginny for 60 years until his death.
    He named Sporting News' manager of the year (1976).
    He had back-to-back 101-win seasons (1976-77), the most of any Phillies team before or (as of 2009) since.
