    He was married and divorced twice.
    He broke the leg of teammate Dale Sveum catching a fly ball (September 3, 1988).
    After he was benched near the end of the 1995 season, he claimed the Brewers were trying to prevent him from reaching 550 plate appearances that season, which would have forced the team to pick up a $2.5-million option on his contract.
    He publicly criticized the Brewers upon signing with Texas, claiming the team wasn't interested in building a contender.
    He was notorious for hitting ground balls and drawing walks.
    He was shot to death by his girlfriend, in a murder-suicide (June 21, 2015).
