    (July 6, 1946- )
    Born in Hawthorne, California
Defensive Lineman for the New York Giants (1969-1971) and the St. Louis Rams (1972-1981)
Attended El Camino City College and San Diego State University
    Named All-Pro in 1974
Starred as title character Sgt. Rick Hunter in the NBC series 'Hunter' (1984-1991)
He was born on the same day AND year as George W. Bush and Sylvester Stallone.
His acting career overshadowed his pro-football career.
He played in Super Bowl XIV against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rams lost the game.
Ironically, he lost to a team whose starting quarterback was another athlete-turned actor: Terry Bradshaw.
He made the cover of Andy Warhol 's 'Interview' Magazine.
His breakout moment came on October 21, 1973 in a game against the Green Bay Packers.
In the third quarter, Dryer came storming in from the right side of the defense and chased down Green Bay quarterback Scott Hunter, dropping him in the end zone for a safety.
On the Packer's following possession near their own goal line, Dryer attacked again. He looped through the middle of the Packer's offensive line and dragged backup quarterback Jim Del Gaizo down for his second safety of the game, setting a new NFL record.
He was named the Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of that Week.
His show 'Hunter' had a fan following.
