The Resume

    (July 17, 2011- )
Aired on Spike TV (2011-17) and the Paramount Network
A spin-off series titled 'Marriage Rescue' premiered (June 2, 2019)
Premise: Bar Rescue is a docu-reality series that features veteran nightlife expert Jon Taffer as he seeks to revamp and rescue bars that are a failure or on the brink

Why Bar Rescue might be annoying:

According to the former owner of 'Piratz Tavern' (featured in season 2), everything is staged, from storylines, and employees not being current, in order to make the business appear more as bar owners who are down on their luck.
Due to restrictions on bars during the COVID-19 epidemic, the last half of season seven consisted of clip shows.
Jon Taffer yells and screams at bar owners who let their bars and nightclubs get really bad with mold, fruit flies, expired food and E. coli, but admitted on the show that he would fix his own pipes in his bar, instead of hiring a professional plumber.
Taffer says that he can turn any business around, but nearly half the bars featured (74 of 166 through season six) ended up closing down.
Some mixologists who appear on the show want the bartenders to fix up about 30 drinks in the course of 30 minutes during the 'stress test' challenge.
There's a lost episode that Spike TV pulled just before it aired, of bar owner Chris Ferrell who murdered country singer Wayne Mills.

Why Bar Rescue might not be annoying:

The show has high ratings. Predominantly because Jon Taffer yells and screams at the owners of the bars, and to be frankly honest, it's actually quite entertaining to watch.
There have been rumors on the show that the bar owners have to pay some of the cost of the renovations and upgrades, but Jon Taffer clears that all up by stating that he and his sponsors pay for everything, and that the owner doesn't pay one dime.
Jon Taffer has the ability to take a very rundown or disgusting bar and turn it into a nice and fancy bar.
Some very special celebrities have appeared on the show as either special guests, cooks or spies (some of the celebrities include Halestorm, Aaron McCargo Jr., Jenny McCarthy, Maria Menounos and Jason Santos).
Mashed noted that bar owners must sign an application form and submit it to the 'Paramount Network' for consideration, so that Taffer can be able to go in the owners bars and take over for the next five days, and has the right to fire or rehire any staff who isn't helping or running the bars to their fullest potentials, until the last (fifth and final) day
Jon Taffer and the producers put a lot of hidden cameras in the owners bars in each episode, so that Taffer can view how disgustingly the bars and nightclubs are first before he enters them.
