    Helped found British socialist movement
    He was extremely spoiled as a child.
    He and some Oxford friends founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood that aimed to turn back the clock 600 years.
    He saw no contradiction between his romanticized medievalism and his socialist beliefs.
    He may have smashed a policeman's helmet during a demonstration.
    Overwork in several fields may have contributed to his death.
    He is mainly known today for his wallpaper designs, despite his many other accomplishments.
