Premise: The rise of politician Frank Underwood and his devious plans to control the US government
Based on the novel and British television serial of the same name
It could be described as 'The West Wing' meets 'The Thick of It.'
Frank Underwood is murderous, cold-hearted, sociopath.
It also has drawn parallels to the play 'Macbeth.'
The show is very polarizing amongst both critics and audiences.
The Underwoods constantly gain more power as the people that help them or depend on them get screwed or killed.
Frank often reiterates to the viewer that there are times that require us to do 'the unpleasant thing yet the necessary thing.'
In the pilot episode, he manages to kill a dog with his bare hands.
It featured many famous faces as the leads.
Many consider Frank Underwood Kevin's Spacey best role since Lester Burnham in 'American Beauty' or Verbal Kint in 'The Usual Suspects.'
It received near unanimous praise from critics.
It became the first internet-based drama series to receive Emmy nominations.
It also received a Peabody Award in its freshman season.
Real life media personalities such as Rachel Maddow, Candy Crowley, and Sean Hannity have made guest appearances on the series.
