Fictional Character

The Resume

    (circa 700-circa 738)
    Born in Sanaa, Yemen
    Half mad Arab
Discovered and translated the Necronomicron into Greek as told in the writings of HP Lovecraft, August Derleth, et. al.

Why he might be annoying:

The Necronomicron is a book of spells and tells the story of the Old Ones, a race of gods who once ruled the earth with horrific brutality, so why in the hell does anyone want to read it?
Alhazred actually worshiped a couple of these gods, Cthulhu and Yog-Sothoth, which makes one think he was more than half crazy.
His name is a pseudonym but can be loosely translated as Servant of the Prohibited.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was obviously quite bright.
He was supposed to have been a very good poet.
Although there a couple of different stories about his death, either one was a terrible death.
Perhaps if the treatment for mental illness had been better in his time, things might have turned out differently.
There's as much proof of the legitimacy of the Necronomicron as there is any other so-called holy book.
