The Resume

    (October 1, 1956- )
Born in Eastbourne, Sussex, England, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Theresa Brasier
Member of Parliament for Maidenhead (Assumed office May 1, 1997)
Served in the cabinet as Home Secretary (2010-16) and Minister for Women and Equalities (2010-12)
Succeeded David Cameron as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (July 13, 2016)

Why he might be annoying:

She said she was a ‘goody two-shoes’ in school.
As an MP, she sometimes attracted more attention for her shoes (such as the leopard-patterned heels she wore during her ‘Nasty Party’ speech) than her politics.
In arguing the need to reform immigration policy, she cited the case of a foreign national who was allowed by the courts to stay in the UK ‘because – and I am not making this up – he had a pet cat.’ (October 4, 2011)
Actually, the court had allowed him to stay because he was in a relationship with a British partner. Their joint ownership of a cat was merely one of the pieces of evidence submitted to show that the relationship was ‘genuine.’
She was found in contempt of court and accused of ‘totally unacceptable behavior’ for ignoring an order to free an Algerian from a UK Immigration Detention Center (June, 2012).
During a discussion of potential successors to David Cameron, Kenneth Clarke, a Conservative politician who had served over 20 years in the cabinet, called her ‘a bloody difficult woman’ and noted, ‘She doesn’t know much about foreign affairs.’

Why he might not be annoying:

She famously told fellow Conservatives that they had to change public perception of them as ‘the Nasty Party.’ (October, 2002)
She also warned party leaders against ‘glib moralizing and hypocritical finger wagging.’
As Home Secretary, she recommended overhauling police ‘stop and search’ policies, saying they discriminated against young black men.
She was one of the first conservative MPs to support same-sex marriage: ‘I believe if two people care for each other, if they love each other, if they want to commit to each other, then they should be able to get married.’
She turned Clarke’s comment into a positive, announcing that Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, would be the next person to find her ‘bloody difficult.’
