    He dropped out of Juilliard to work for bandleader Fred Waring.
    He was listed as a composer of 'The Little Drummer Boy' but did not actually write any of the song.
    Oddly, his recording of 'The Little Drummer Boy' features no drums.
    He recorded in an old Greenwich Village church, felling that the old timber would enhance the acoustics.
    He and his wife donated $1 million to Yale to endow a music scholarship program.
    Reissues of his recording of 'The Little Drummer Boy' made the Billboard Top 40 five consecutive Christmases (1958-62).
