    Born in Detroit, Michigan
    Member of The Funk Brothers - house band for Motown Records
    As a guitar soloist recorded 'Scorpio' and 'Taurus'
    Published the memoir, 'Guitars, Bars and Motown Superstars' (2004)
    As a soloist he is a two hit wonder.
    Both his Top 20 songs happen to be astrology signs.
    He scored the soundtrack for the Jim Kelly 1974 blaxploitation film 'Black Belt Jones.'
    He waited 56 years into his music career to release his self-titled album 'Dennis Coffey' in 2011.
    In the early 1960s he joined the Royaltones, who played sessions with artists such as Del Shannon.
    He brought his distinctive guitar distortion sound to Motown, which can be prominently heard on the Temptations hits 'Cloud Nine,' 'Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today)' and 'Psychedelic Shack.'
    Other hits featuring him on guitar include Edwin Starr's 'War,' Diana Ross & the Supremes' 'Someday We'll Be Together' and Freda Payne's 'Band of Gold.'
    He produced and arranged Gallery's million selling 1972 hit 'Nice to Be with You.'
    'Scorpio' reached #6 on Billboard's Singles chart and went gold.
    He has the distinction of being the first white artist to perform on the TV series 'Soul Train' (January 8, 1972).
    His music career has extended to an incredible seven decades.
