Voice Actress
    (October 11, 1919-April 10, 1999)
    Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Provided the voices of Wilma and Pebbles in The Flintstones and Rosie the Robot in The Jetsons
Recurring roles on the radio programs 'Calling All Cops,' 'Amos 'n' Andy' and 'Father Knows Best'
Guest appearances in the TV series 'Leave It To Beaver,' 'The Donna Reed Show,' 'The Beverly Hillbillies,' 'Petticoat Junction' and 'Murder She Wrote'
When 'Father Knows Best' moved from radio to TV, she was replaced by Jane Wyatt.
Her son said, 'That cute little laugh that Betty and Wilma did with their mouths closed? They came up with that because when they normally laughed, because they were smokers, they coughed.'
After 'The Flintstones' ended, she waived her right to future residuals in exchange for a $15,000 payment, later observing 'If I got residuals, I wouldn't live in San Clemente. I'd own San Clemente.'
She said her strong point in voice work (both radio and animation) was that she could play any role 'from the ingenue to the villainess without complaining or screwing up.'
Joseph Barbera said in 1989, 'A great [cartoon] voice is something that, when you close your eyes and listen, it immediately makes you chuckle. Also, it's got to work for people of all ages, not just kids. Jean had that voice when we cast her, and she still has it.'
She said, 'I wasn't ever what you would really call a star, but I did have Wilma. Millions of people grew up with us as a big part of their lives. And millions more probably will.'
