    She said of her relationship with Mailer, 'Sex was the core that bound us together.'
    She said, 'He never laid a hand on me, although I hit him plenty of times.'
    Mailer's response to an early draft of 'Windchill Summer' was, 'It was not as bad as I thought it would be.'
    She was a statuesque beauty with great legs.
    After meeting Mailer, she sent him a love poem; he sent it back with corrections in red ink.
    During her modeling years, she also had nine one-woman shows of her paintings.
    She was a loving stepmother to Mailer's seven kids from five previous relationships.
    Doris Kearns Goodwin said, 'Norris was a force of nature in that relationship. She brought steadiness and happiness and a fulfillment he never had before.'
