    Two words: Grace Slick.
The band has been known by three different names.
They dropped the 'Jefferson' part of the name during the 1980's.
Considering the drug connotations and the fact that the band hails from San Francisco, 'White Rabbit' may remind people of Berkeley during the 1960s.
'We Built This City' was ranked by Blender Magazine as the worst song of all time.
Although the listener may believe 'We Built This City' refers to San Francisco, because of the radio announcement in the middle of the song, the song was written and produced by Martin Page, Bernie Taupin and other non-San Franciscans.
Considering the music style changed along with the band name, it is possible that the band sold out.
    Grace Slick has aged gracefully.
At the time of her retirement, Grace Slick was one of the oldest women in rock business.
During reunion concerts, they have brought back the 'Jefferson' part of the name.
'Embryonic Journey' was played at the end of the 'Friends' finale.
'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now' was featured in 'Mannequin.'
When people think of great Bay Area bands, the first two names that come to anyone's mind are the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane/Starship.
