Died at age 30 in a car crash near Denver, Colorado

Why he might be annoying:

In about half his films his last name is spelled 'De Wilde,' in the other half it's 'deWilde.' (And in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents it gets spelled differently in the opening and closing credits.)
He blew most of the money he earned as a child star on drugs.
His second wife said, 'We were so poor, we went to the grocery store and were actually taking bags of beans and were putting them inside our clothes to get something to eat.'

Why he might not be annoying:

John Gielgud praised the 'extraordinary subtlety' of his debut Broadway performance in 'The Member of the Wedding.'
At age 11, he was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for 'Shane.'
His parents, not wanting him to get a big head, did not tell him about the nomination for four years.
He was good friends with singer Gram Parsons, who paid tribute to him in the song 'In My Hour of Darkness.'
At the time of his death, he was driving to the hospital to visit his wife.
