(September 20, 1962- )
Creator of the syndicated comic strip 'FoxTrot'
First run in newspapers April 10, 1988
Why he might be annoying
He played the tuba in his high school band.
In his comic strip, he must pattern the nerd after himself, since he was president of his high school math club (until he was impeached) who became a self-professed computer geek.
He shamelessly plugs Apple computers and relentlessly mocks Microsoft products in his strip.
After his beer fueled years at Amherst College, he tried cartooning and was met with a mountain of rejection slips from syndicators.
He spent his first few years after college living with his parents and without any job prospects.
Why he might not be annoying
He was an Eagle Scout.
He did twice weekly editorial cartoons for his college newspaper.
He co-published his own newspaper during his junior and senior years.
He received a bachelor's degree in physics from Amherst.
He wanted to be a movie director, but realized he would have much more creative freedom and control over material as a cartoonist.
'Foxtrot' appears in more than 1,000 newspapers worldwide and has over 25 separate paperback editions in print.
