The Resume

    (November 21, 1924-January 15, 2020)
Born in Leeds, England, United Kingdom
    Son of J. R. R. Tolkien
Edited his father's posthumously published works 'The Silmarillion' (1977), 'Unfinished Tales' (1980), 'History of Middle Earth' (1983-96) and 'The Children of Hurin' (2007)

Why he might be annoying:

He and his son Simon reportedly stopped speaking after Simon endorsed Peter Jackson's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy.
Simon noted, 'The essential thing was I crossed my father on a Tolkien issue and he never looked back.'
He has threatened to sue websites reporting on his feud with Simon.
He said popular entertainment is 'unutterably low.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He served with the Royal Air Force in World War II.
He drew the maps of Middle Earth for 'The Lord of the Rings.'
Although he felt 'The Lord of the Rings' was 'unsuitable' for adaptation as a film, he denied discouraging people from seeing the movies.
Given what Ralph Bakshi did to 'The Lord of the Rings,' can you blame Christopher for being gun-shy about the Jackson films?
