The Resume

    (December 17, 1930-October 20, 2010)
    Founder of Penthouse magazine (1965)
Offered (and was turned down) to publish the manifesto of the Unabomber (1995)
Resigned as chairman and CEO of Penthouse International, Inc. after declaring bankruptcy (2003)

Why he might be annoying:

His birth name is Robert Charles Joseph Edward Sabatini Guccione.
He tried to become a European artist and failed.
    He married three times.
He spliced explicit sex scenes into his film 'Caligula,' causing stars Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, director Tinto Brass and screenwriter Gore Vidal to disassociate themselves from it.
Ebert gave the film zero stars and called it 'sickening, utterly worthless, shameful trash.'
When he helped son Bob, Jr. found Spin magazine he wanted editorial control, which Jr. refused, causing estrangement between father and son.
His shortsightedness over not offering pay-per-view and DVD deals for Penthouse drove the franchise into fiscal ruin.
When he quit Penthouse sales were at a mere 10% from its heyday.

Why he might not be annoying:

When he started his magazine, he couldn't afford photographers and did most of the photo shoots himself.
He became a self-made millionaire with an art collection of Picassos and Renoirs.
His six-story mansion is one of the largest private residences in Manhattan.
His magazine was the first to publish pics showing pubic hair and naked lesbians.
He bought and published nude pics of Madonna and Vanessa L. Williams.
He said of his magazine, 'Sex will always be the dominant factor in any man's life, whether he realizes it or not.'
