Why he might be annoying:

He has a bushy mustache.
He had a shaky start in his first year with the New York Yankees, that teammate Mickey Rivers would jump on the relief car to prevent Gossage from coming in (1978).
He was involved in a fight with teammate Cliff Johnson, sustaining a thumb injury that left him on the bench for three months (1979).
In the ninth inning with two outs and a 5-4 lead against the Kansas City Royals, he gave up a two run home run against George Brett. The Yankees accused Brett of illegal use of pine tar and the umps agree to call him the last out of the game. In protest, the call was overturned by the American League President and the Yankees went on to lose the game (1983).
He refused to intentional walk Kirk Gibson in the eighth inning of game five of the American League Championship, resulting in a two run homer and leading to a playoff ending loss for the San Diego Padres (1984).
He sat out of the 1990 season as a free agent.
He broke his wrist when he tripped over a ball bag (that's not gay) before a game (1993).
He goes hunting with his kids for food.
During a world series game he beaned LA Dodger Ron Cey into unconsciousness.
