Basketball Player
    (June 15, 1947-circa 1979)
    Born in Detroit, Michigan
Forward/guard for the Pittsburgh Pipers (1969-70), Pittsburgh Condors (1970-72) and Seattle SuperSonics (1972-75)
    Two-time ABA All-Star (1971-72)
    Disappeared while traveling in Uganda
Last confirmed contact was in April, 1978
    Declared legally dead in 1985
He was nicknamed the Heavyweight Champ of the ABA for his constant fighting.
He was so out of control that Pittsburgh hired an ex-football player to keep him in line so he would not injure his teammates during practices.
Condors teammate Charlie Williams said, 'Say something wrong to the guy and you had this feeling he would reach into his bag, take out a gun and shoot you.'
He was let go from the SuperSonics for fueling 'dissension.'
He allegedly became a mercenary for Idi Amin.
Jim O'Brien's Complete Handbook of Pro Basketball described him as 'handsome, noble-looking, with take-charge attitude.'
SuperSonics general manager Zollie Volchok said, 'When it came to doing charity stuff, I could always count on John.'
He was rumored to have been executed by a firing squad after Amin was overthrown.
