Why he might be annoying:

He played second fiddle to younger, more popular Italian-American actors for his entire career.
During periods where he couldn’t find any work, he sang in restaurants and saloons.
It took him nearly 30 years to reach the peak of his career with ‘The Sopranos’ and over 30 years to get his first title role in a film (‘Crimes of Fashion').

Why he might not be annoying:

He has worked on and off Broadway constantly since the 60s.
George C. Scott got him started in acting by getting him a role on the television series ‘East Side, West Side.’
He frequently works with Al Pacino in films and on stage.
Apart from his stage, television and film work, he is also an accomplished musician and seems to venture into each profession on a regular basis.
