He was a bigger ham than Tod Slaughter and Marlon Brando put together.
His middle name was Desylla.
He often played ethnic roles that he just wasn't believable in, including Arabs and Africans(!).
He never received a major award or nomination for his acting.
He didn't appear in movies until he was 45 years old.

Why he might not be annoying:

He started out in vaudeville and had a reportedly hilarious act with his wife making fun of the early suffragettes.
He was married for thirty years until his death.
A vicious biography by Kenneth Anger claimed he died in a madhouse believing himself haunted by Cthulhu, causing his wife and daughter to commit suicide when in fact all three died of natural causes, him of pneumonia and none in a mad house.
He suffered a stroke in 1951, ending his movie career.
He appeared in 95 movies from 1931 to 1951, portraying everyone from Benjamin Disraeli to Professor Moriarty.
His professionalism led to his being nicknamed 'One Take' Zucco.
He was wounded while serving bravely in WWI, leaving his right hand partially paralyzed.
He loved dogs and owned several German Shepards.
