    While breaking into acting, she took voice lessons to minimize her Southern accent, only to be asked to emphasize the accent for her 'Monitor' broadcasts.
    She did not know anything about meteorology but simply relayed info obtained from the Weather Bureau in Washington, DC.
    After finishing 'Monitor' one week, she drove off to Long Island and ended up in the middle of a tropical storm she had no idea was coming.
    She had a sultry, seductive voice.
    She always lead off her broadcasts with the weather for Atlanta since she was a native of Georgia.
    New York Times critic Jack Gould said that she made the weather report 'sound like an irresistible invitation to an unforgettable evening.'
    She was described as 'the most recognizable female voice in the country.'
