Her extremely high pitched, screechy, whiny voice would get on people's nerves.
She was typecast as a maid.
She died while lighting a lantern and her clothes caught fire.
She had her name legally changed from Thelma to Butterfly (Something wrong with Thelma?)
She had difficulty getting along with many of her co-stars.
She said: 'As my ancestors are free from slavery, I am free from the slavery of religion.'

She received her bachelor's degree in political science at age 64.
She won an Emmy for her performance in the TV special 'The Seven Wishes of a Rich Kid (1979).'
She won the 'Free-thought Heroine award' in 1989.
She had excellent comedic timing.
She said: 'Now I am happy I did 'Gone with the Wind.' I wasn't when I was 28, but it's part of Black History. You have no idea how hard it is for Black Actors, things blossom in time.'
