Planted bomb on plane carrying Hitler, but detonator failed
Joined with Hans Oster and Wilhelm Canaris in 1943, plotting to bomb Hitler's meeting at Army headquarters in Smolensk
Planned coup at Berlin Armory after failure of second bomb
Killed himself after learning that the coup had failed

He tried three times to kill Hitler and failed every attempt.
He blew his own head off with a hand grenade after the third attempt failed.

Like his fellow conspirators, he was strongly against the Nazi regime and its aspirations of genocide and world conquest.
He vowed to overthrow Hitler after witnessing Nazi war crimes during the invasion of Czechoslovakia and Poland.
Even after many failed attempts to get closer to Hitler so that he could kill him, he continued every possible avenue for the plan.
He said: 'I believe Hitler to be the archenemy, not only of Germany, but of the entire world. In a few hours' time, I shall stand before God and answer for both my actions and the things I neglected to do. I think I can with a clear conscience stand by all I have done in the battle against Hitler.'
