The Resume

    (May 19, 1932-October 26, 1966)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Alma Cohen
Recorded the singles 'Bell Bottom Blues' (1954), 'Little Things Mean a Lot' (1954), 'I Can't Tell a Waltz from a Tango' (1954), 'Dreamboat' (1955), 'Never Do a Tango with an Eskimo' (1955), 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love' (1956), 'You, Me and Us' (1957), 'Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets)' (1957), 'Sugartime' (1958) and 'Just Couldn't Resist Her with Her Pocket Transistor' (1960)

Why she might be annoying:

She was dubbed 'the girl with the giggle in her voice.'
She was known for her stage outfits as much as her singing, sometimes changing costumes eleven times in a show.
Her British hits dried up after 1960.
Her last single was an attempt to cash in on the popularity of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. titled 'Love Ya, Illya.'
She conducted an affair with John Lennon while he was married to his first wife.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was named 'Outstanding British Female Singer' four times in the NME readers poll between 1956 and 1960.
She designed many of her stage costumes.
After her British hits dried up, she continued to be popular in Sweden, Germany and Japan, partly by recording songs in foreign languages.
She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after collapsing in concert during a tour of Sweden (September, 1966).
Cynthia Lennon said, 'John and I had thought of her as old-fashioned and unhip. But in the flesh, she was beautiful, intelligent and funny, oozing sex appeal and charm.'
