    Recorded the songs ‘Universal Soldier,’ ‘Now That the Buffalo’s Gone,’ ‘Until It’s Time for You to Go,’ ‘Mister Can’t You See,’ ‘He’s an Indian Cowboy in the Rodeo’ and ‘Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee’

    She became addicted to codeine while recovering from a throat infection (1963).
    She named her son Dakota Starblanket Wolfchild.
    She claimed that Lyndon Johnson led a campaign that got her blacklisted from radio during the 1970s.
    Ironically, she had her only Top 40 hit during that decade (‘Mister Can’t You See’ in 1972).

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was a regular on ‘Sesame Street’ for five years (1976-81).
    She won an Oscar for best song for co-writing ‘Up Where We Belong.’
    She was chosen by the UN to officially proclaim the International Year of Indigenous Peoples (1993).
    She was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (1995).
