The Resume

    (1955-1956)
    Born in Copenhagen, Denmark
Created by producers Don Charles and Carl Weismann
Dogs were named Dolly, Pearl, Caesar and King
Recorded 'Oh! Susanna' and 'Jingle Bells' (both 1955)

Why they might be annoying:

The official credit on their records is the unwieldy 'Don Charles presents The Singing Dogs directed by Carl Weismann.'
The appeal of dogs barking a tune wears off awfully fast.
Their 'Jingle Bells' topped a survey of the most hated Christmas songs (2007).
They inspired the inevitable 'Jingle Cats.'

Why they might not be annoying:

Weisman, an amateur ornithologist, was inspired after editing out stray dog barks from his field recordings of bird songs.
Although now you could probably knock off something like this in half a day on your computer, at the time it required several hundred hours of painstaking tape editing to create.
'Oh! Susanna' actually made the Billboard Top 40 and sold half a million singles.
