Vocalist

The Resume

    (July 5, 1931-March 15, 2017)
    Born in Kingston, Jamaica
    Jazz singer
    Lover of Christine Keeler

Why he might be annoying:

He arrived in Britain as a stowaway.
He frequently performed ‘smash and grab’ thefts against London jewelry stores.
He was imprisoned for forging checks (1960).
He is known less for his music than for his tangential involvement in the Profumo Affair.
He first met Keeler when he sold marijuana to her.
Keeler claimed that he assaulted her and held her captive for two days.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was in a coma for thirteen days after being beaten by policemen; then, adding insult to injury, he was jailed for nine months for ‘assaulting’ the officers (1958).
He required 17 stitches after another one of Keeler’s lovers, Johnny Edgecombe, slashed him with a knife.
He was released from jail after Keeler withdrew her assault accusation. (Which eventually led to Keeler being convicted of perjury.)
He worked as a cook at Island Records, and as a live-in cook for Bob Marley when Marley was in London for a recording session.
