Why he might be annoying:

He believes that friendships cause jealousy, fearfulness and suspicion.
First claiming society is bad, he later flip-flopped his opinion and said that man in nature is bad and that society improves man.
Although he wrote books of education, he abandoned his five kids.

Why he might not be annoying:

His mother died shortly after his birth, and father who was running from the law abandoned him at 10.
His aunt took him but at 16 years old, he went on his own.
His early philosophy was that man is essentially good but civilization corrupts him.
He was anti private property.
He believed the majority is NOT always correct.
He believed the purpose of government is to secure freedom, equality and justice for everyone.
He believed politics and morality should not be separated.
