    Assassinated when members of the People's Will threw two bombs at his carriage

Why he might be annoying:

    He proposed to Queen Victoria and was rejected.
    He had seven children out of wedlock.
    He had his mistress (and future second wife) named as a lady-in-waiting to the Tzarina.
    He banned the publication of books in the Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Belorussian languages.
    He ignored advice to stay in his bullet-proof carriage, got out to survey the damage from the first bomb, and was blown to pieces by a second bomber.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He emancipated Russia's serfs.
    He implemented reforms in the judicial and penal systems.
    He granted greater autonomy to Finland, where he is remembered as 'the good Tzar.'
    The day before his assassination, he had drawn up plans for an elected parliament, which were immediately shelved by his successor.
