Why she might be annoying
Sally Hemmings was both her slave and her half-sister.
She named two of her children Lucy Elizabeth.
Many portraits credited as being her are actually her daughter, Martha Jeferson Randolph.
Why she might not be annoying
She outlived four of her seven children.
She was an accomplished harpsichordist, and often performed duets with Thomas Jefferson, who played violin.
She introduced brewing beer to Jefferson's plantation, Monticello.
Jefferson promised her that he would never remarry. (Although she should have extracted a promise that he wouldn't boink the slaves, either.)
