Composed the ballets 'Swan Lake (1875),' 'The Nutcracker (1891) and 'Sleeping Beauty (1890)
Wrote six symphonies including #6 'Pathetique (1893)
Wrote the operas 'Eugene Onegin (1877-78) and 'Queen Of Spades (1890)
Wrote the 'Romeo and Juliet (1869) and '1812' (1880) overtures, Piano Concerto #1 (1874-75), a violin concerto (1878) and the 'Serenade For Strings' (1880)

Why he might be annoying:

He wasted some of his early years doing clerical work.
His composition was financially supported by a woman he never met.
Despite being in an unconsummated marriage, he fell in love with his nephew.
He committed suicide rather than allow his homosexuality to be disclosed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was seriously affected by the death of his mother when he was 14 (1854).
He was arguably the greatest Russian composer ever.
Most of his major works are instantly recognizable and popular to this day.
