    (June 11, 1902-May 3, 1976)
    Born in Willow River, Minnesota
    Attended Stanford University
Pitcher for the St. Louis Browns (1926-28)

Why he might be annoying:

He was overweight and clumsy as a kid and at his first high school was used mainly as the tackling dummy during practices.
His baseball career was undistinguished, with the highlight being giving up two of Babe Ruth's 60 home runs in 1927.
He missed the 1928 season with a back injury.

Why he might not be annoying:

At Stanford, he earned eleven letters in four sports (football, baseball, basketball and track).
Although Stanford lost the game, he was the MVP of the 1925 Rose Bowl, having rushed for 114 yards on two heavily taped ankles (which had both been broken earlier in the season).
He was named the greatest college football player of all time by Sports Illustrated (1962).
He was All-Pro each of his five NFL seasons.
    In 1926, he played 1714 of 1740 minutes in a 29-game season.
He scored six touchdowns and kicked four extra points in a 40-0 rout of the Chicago Bears (November 28, 1929), setting a one-man scoring record that still stood as of the end of the 2013 NFL season.
Although he was too old to be drafted in WWII, he volunteered for the Marine Corps, serving in the South Pacific.
