The Resume

    (April 2, 1976- )
    Born in Provo, Utah
Birth name was David Evan McMullin
    Former CIA operations officer
Advisor on national security to the House Foreign Affairs Committee (2013-15)
Ran for President of the United States as an independent candidate (2016)

Why he might be annoying:

He said he became interested in joining the CIA after watching ‘Three Days of the Condor’ – a film about a CIA agent who goes on the run to avoid being whacked by the Agency for knowing too much.
He called himself ‘the only true conservative’ running for president.
He jumped into the Presidential race so late that he was listed on the ballot in only eleven states.
His ballots listed the wrong person as his running mate.
Attention on his campaign focused mainly on the question of whether he would play spoiler in traditionally Republican Utah, either by winning it outright or by splitting the conservative vote enough to create a narrow victory for Hilary Clinton.

Why he might not be annoying:

Before joining the CIA, he volunteered as a refugee resettlement officer for the United Nations.
His CIA missions included gathering information for campaigns against al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
He opposes the use of torture.
He said in response to Donald Trump’s Muslim-bashing, ‘I’d like all Americans to know the truth: American and other Muslims have played a central role in virtually every counterterrorism win we’ve had since 9/11. They are an indispensable asset in this fight. Attacking them as a group makes America weaker, not stronger.’
The Washington Post described his candidacy as ‘a rare positive note in an otherwise ugly and negative campaign season.’
