Musicians
Formed in England in 1968 by Rod Argent after the breakup of The Zombies
    1972 line-up:
    Rod Argent - keyboards, vocals
Russ Ballard - guitar, keyboards, vocals
    Jim Rodford - bass
    Bob Henrit - drums
Recorded 'Hold Your Head Up' and 'God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You'
They are a two hit wonder (one hit wonder in the U.S.).
Rod Argent calling his band Argent - now THAT'S band name brainstorming.
They went through several band member changes, including Ballard's 1974 departure.
Several of their songs that were not a hit for them became hits for other groups, including Rainbow, Santana, and Three Dog Night's 'Liar.'
By 1976, the band had run its course and broke up.
One hit in the U.S., two in England, and they had the audacity to release a 'best of' album.
Rod formed the band hoping to create a more progressive rock sound.
'Hold Your Head Up' reached #5 in both the U.S. and England, selling over one million units.
The song was certified gold, and the long version became an FM staple and oldies stations classic.
'God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You' hit #14 in the U.K., and the KISS version of the song was used in the 1991 film 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.'
On July 25th, 2010, the original lineup reunited at the High Voltage Festival in Victoria Park, London to wild enthusiasm.
