    Pop group formed in Sacramento
Pat Upton - guitar, lead vocals
    Harvey Kaye - keyboards
    Bobby Raymond - bass
    Vinnie Parello - drums
    Dick Lopes - saxophone
    Recorded 'More Today Than Yesterday'
They are a one hit wonder.
They were first named The Fydallions.
Their record company liked their sound and not much else, making them change their clothes, hairstyle and band name.
The misspelling of 'Starecase' was deliberate and unnecessary.
They broke up in 1971 over mismanagement and not getting paid.
Kaye got all new musicians and kept touring as a faux Spiral Starecase.
They formed while in the U.S. Air Force together to compete in a talent contest.
They worked five hour lounge sets for years until getting their big break.
In 1969 'More Today Than Yesterday' hit #12 on Billboard's Singles chart (#7 in Cashbox), became a multi-million seller and a favorite on oldies stations.
The group opened for such acts as Three Dog Night, Sly and the Family Stone, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Beach Boys.
Upton became a part of Rick Nelson's touring band but had quit a year before Nelson and other band members died in a 1985 plane crash.
Upton, who wrote 'More Today Than Yesterday,' receives more money from residuals than he ever made as a Starecase band member.
Bassist Raymond died in 1984 and keyboardist Kaye died in 2008.
