Why they might be annoying:

They considered calling themselves the Evil Stepsisters since their first tour was as the opening act for Cinderella.
They were a hard rock group whose hit singles were wussy ballads.
Now their name is more likely to evoke memories of Sex and the City than the band.

Why they might not be annoying:

They took their name from a song by Free, which they covered on the 'Bump Ahead' album. (Although, disappointingly, they have never covered it with Chris Noth as a guest vocalist, thus producing the credit, 'Mr. Big' by Mr. Big featuring Mr. Big.)
'To Be With You' hit #1 in a dozen countries, including the US.
Even after their American success faded, they remained huge in Asia, especially Japan.
After Pat Torpey died of Parkinson's disease at age 64 (Feb. 7, 2018), the remaining band members announced that they would fulfill their touring obligations, record an album in tribute to him, and then break up. (Said Martin, 'It feels a little uncomfortable to keep going without Pat.')
