Why he might be annoying:

He charged the mound after being hit by a pitch by Nolan Ryan. Ryan, at age 46 and 20 years older, put Ventura in a headlock and pulverized him with several punches (1993).
He hit a Grand Slam against the Braves in the NLCS in 1999, but because his teammates celebrated with him around first base, he never reached home plate and the hit was ruled a single.
It took him 10 years before he appeared in his second all star game (1992-2002).
His nickname is Batman.

He is considered one of the best fielding 3rd baseman.
He had a 58 game hitting streak in college.
He suffered a severe ankle injury in a game, his ankle was shown on TV twisted around completely.
He fully recovered from the injury.
He resurrected his career with the Yankees after two sub par years with the Mets.
He is a practical joker and often pulls stunts on new players in the clubhouse.
He is well-liked by teammates and fans.
He held a bowling tournament that raises funds for Widows of New York Fire and Policemen.
On home runs, he said 'Who cares how long they are as long as they're over the fence.'
