    Recorded the singles 'Portrait of My Love' (1961), 'My Kind of Girl' (1961), 'Softly As I Leave You' (1962), 'Walk Away' (1964), 'Yesterday' (1965), 'Born Free' (1966) and 'And You Smiled' (1973)
    Represented the UK in Eurovision with 'I Love the Little Things' (1964)
    Recorded the James Bond theme song 'From Russia With Love' (1963)
    After leaving school at 14, he landed his first job as an 'offal boy.'
    Before finding success as Matt Monro, he performed under the names Terry Fitzgerald, Al Jordan and Fred Flange.
    He recorded jingles for over 40 commercials.
    His wife Mickie and children (Mitchell, Michele and Matt Jr.) shared his 'MM' initials.
    After his death, his son Matt, Jr., recorded an album of 'duets' with him -- shades of Nat and Natalie Cole.
    While serving with the British army in Hong Kong, he won a series of talent shows and was hired by the local radio station to host his own program.
    His first hits were recorded by future Beatles producer George Martin.
    He had an enormous following in Latin America and recorded several albums in Spanish.
    He performed in the BBC's 'A Jubilee of Music' celebrating Queen Elizabeth's silver jubilee.
    Frank Sinatra said, 'His pitch was right on the nose; his word enunciations letter perfect; his understanding of a song thorough.'
