George Miller (Comedian)

In the early years when it was hard to get paying gigs as a comic, he supported himself as a pool hustler.
One history of stand-up comedy claimed, ‘If there had been a contest for worst-dressed comic, Miller would have won walking away.’
    He abused Quaaludes and barbiturates.
He would get so stoned that he would forget to take the medication to combat his leukemia.
He had his only serious falling out with David Letterman when he refused to go to rehab after Letterman organized an intervention.
His father left the family when he was an infant.
Fellow comic Tom Dreesen noted that unlike a lot of other comics, Miller ‘was just content to be a stand-up comedian…. He truly just wanted to write funny things and say funny things.’
After he got into an argument with the manager of his neighborhood Starbucks and was told to leave and never return, he cried out, ‘Oh, God! Where am I ever going to find another Starbucks?’
Letterman paid for his medical expenses when he battled leukemia, including donating $1 million to UCLA to get Miller enrolled in an experimental treatment program.
