    Born in Lampadang, Aceh, Indonesia
    Led Acehnese guerrilla forces to defend Aceh from Dutch invasions
    Betrayed by her own soldier Pang Alot and subsequently captured by Dutch forces at Meulaboh (November 4, 1905)
    Exiled to Sumedang in West Java after her incarceration in Banda Aceh (December 11, 1906)
    Taught Islam during her exile, where she became known as 'Ibu Perbu'
    Proclaimed a National Hero of Indonesia (May 2, 1964)
    Subject of the movie 'Tjoet Nja' Dhien' by Eros Djarot (1988)

Why she might be annoying:

    She married her first husband, Teuku Ibrahim Lamnga, when she was 14. (1862)
    Her second husband Teuku Umar was also her cousin.
    She brought her daughter Cut Gambang with her to battles.
    In the end, her fight against the Dutch couldn't prevent them from conquering Aceh.
    The Dutch during her time saw her as no better than the way we view 'jihadists' nowadays.

Why she might not be annoying:

    Her leadership status in a male-dominated culture made her an early pioneer of feminism.
    She was renowned for her beauty, and many men attempted to propose to her until her parents settled for Teuku Ibrahim Lamnga.
    Her two husbands were killed in action during the war against the Dutch.
    She suffered from arthritis and myopia as she got older.
    'Tjoet Nja' Dhien' won the Cannes Film Festival award for Best International Film. (1989)
