    Elected to the Hall of Fame (2001)
    Died of a stroke at the age of 45 (March 6, 2006)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was only 5'8, which was considered to be too short to be a power hitter.
    He often drove to the ballpark in an old pickup truck.
    He was the youngest of nine children.
    He ruined his good guy image when he was charged with sexually assaulting a woman at a restaurant (2002).
    He cheated on his wife frequently and allegedly threatened to kill her during a telephone conversation.
    He was divorced.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He lead his team to two World Series championships (1987, 1991).
    He was extremely loyal to the Minnesota Twins, playing his entire career with the team and refusing more lucrative offers from other teams.
    He was the third youngest man to be voted into the Hall of Fame, behind Lou Gehrig and Sandy Koufax.
    He hit a crucial game-ending home run during game six of the 1991 World Series which lead to the Twins winning the World Series in game seven.
    He could be depended upon in times of pressure.
    He was forced into early retirement after he lost the vision in his right eye to glaucoma (1996).
    He said concerning his height: 'It doesn't matter what your height is, it's what's in your heart.'
    He was one of the most respected players in baseball.
