    (July 18, 1929-February 12, 2000)
Died in France following surgery to treat an aneurysm
Birth name is Jalacy L. Hawkins
Recorded 'I Put A Spell On You,' 'Little Demon,' 'Hong Kong,' 'Yellow Coat' and 'Alligator Wine'
He was born on a bus passing through Cleveland, was left at an orphanage and then was adopted by a family of Blackfoot Indians.
He fathered an estimated 75 children around the world.
Only one of his children was born within wedlock.
His screaming antics during his performances can cause migraines.
He married six times and had countless lovers.
He never met most of the children he fathered.
His theatrical live stage show included many elements that weren't acceptable in the 50's. He'd emerge from out of a coffin and have a flaming skull named Henry as his constant companion.
In one night in Atlantic City during the 50's, he made love to 14 women and professed his sexual prowess by writing his 'achievement' on the boardwalk's bathroom walls.
A website was set up three weeks after his death to find his children. It invited the visitor to submit a claim if they believed to be either a child of his or given birth to one of his children. In the site's first year, there were thousands of submissions and 33 positive confirmations.
Even though he never met most of his children, he loved them and was proud of every one of them. His dying wish was for all of his children to meet one day.
His single 'I Put A Spell On You' was covered by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
    He served in the military.
He attempted to become a Golden Gloves Boxer.
His single 'I Put A Spell On You' was featured in a Levi's Jeans commercial in 2004.
He was more famous for his live stage show than for his records.
He was one of the first rock 'n roll musicians who incorporated theatrics into his live music act.
His theatrics were before his time and would both inspire and influence future generations of musicians.
