    (June 11, 1963- )
    Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan
Won a silver medal in platform diving (1984)
After the 1984 Olympics, he dropped out of college and began drinking heavily and abusing cocaine.
While driving drunk at 70-90 mph, he plowed into a crowd of teenagers, killing two and injuring four (August 1, 1988).
Despite the tragedy, he took part in the Olympic diving trials two weeks later.
He was sentenced to 17 years for vehicular manslaughter, but served less than five.
Although his driving privileges were permanently revoked as part of his sentence, he applied for a hardship license, which would allow driving for business purposes.
Growing up, he was national champion for his age group a record 14 times.
He was struck head-on by a drunk driver (1981); every bone in his face was fractured and his left leg broken.
After being released from prison, he became a high school teacher and diving coach.
He has given hundreds of hours of lectures warning against substance abuse.
