Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

Despite playing one playoff game, he didn't make his actual NHL debut until the 1981-82 season.
He was traded from Calgary to Pittsburgh for virtually nothing, in a move which was considered a steal for the Penguins.
While in Pittsburgh, many fans wrongfully assumed he was an alumni of Slippery Rock University since the team's broadcaster nicknamed him 'Slippery Rock Joe.'
He returned to Pittsburgh after spending one season with the Bruins.
He attempted to make a comeback at 42 years old.

Why he might not be annoying:

He grew up poor in Hell's Kitchen and would often play hockey using a roll of electrical tape as a puck.
He attended Boston College on a partial hockey scholarship, paying the remaining balance out of his own pocket.
Despite being highly sought after to play for the U.S. Olympic Team (1980), he turned down the chance to play in order to provide for his family who were struggling to make ends meet at the time.
He was a member of three Stanley Cup winning teams (1989, 1991, 1992).
He is the first American born player to record 500 career goals and 1000 career points.
