(February 23, 1936-October 27, 1964)
Born in New York City, New York
Member of the Judson Dance Theater
Appeared in the Warhol films 'Rollerskate' (1963), 'Haircut #1' (1963), 'Haircut #2' (1963) and 'The Thirteen Most Beautiful Boys' (1964)
Why he might be annoying
A friend said about his amphetamine abuse, 'He was too jittery from speed and constantly misplacing props and breaking things.'
Warhol said of his last days, 'He began staying inside, never going out.... He withdrew from the whole apartment into one single room, and then from the room to the end of the hall, and then from the end of the hall into a walk-in closet - he'd stay in there for days at a time in his mess of textiles and beads and records.'
While dancing naked to a Mozart record at a friend's fifth-floor apartment, he leaped out a window as the music climaxed.
A friend going through his stuff after his death noted, 'There was one whole attaché case of male pornography carefully cut out of magazines.'
Why he might not be annoying
He won a music scholarship to Juilliard and studied ballet with the American Ballet Theater and with Merce Cunningham.
He kept smiling for the entire duration of 'Rollerskate' even though his foot was bleeding by the time filming was complete.
His memorial service at the Judson Dance Theater was attended by so many people, a second one had to be set up at Warhol's Factory.
Warhol's response to his suicide was 'It's too bad we didn't have our cameras when he jumped out the window. It would have made a great film.'
